Going out in the blizzard! →
Apocalypse Now
I live in the suburbs of Chicago, and we’re bracing ourselves for a blizzard. After it’s all over, some areas may be left with TWO FEET of snow on the ground. We’re also expecting winds in excess of 30 mph! The blizzard warning takes effect at 3:00 p.m. but it’s here already. Traffic is crazy with people trying to get home, and last night the gas stations and grocery...

Dear Christina,
What a sad, sad thing that you can’t be here to see it, but you did something with your life that no politician in yours ever did or could: you unified the United States of America. Today you’re making people think more than speak. And maybe when they’re done thinking, they’ll speak differently. And then maybe after they speak differently others will want to think...

Compensation
Tonight I’m seeing John Mayer in concert, and it’s ridiculously hot in Chicago. I think because I’m going to have to suffer in the heat, John owes me dinner and a movie. But not the newest Jennifer Aniston one. That would be awkward.

Psychology and Music
There are so many different levels of psychology that it would take more than a simple blog to cover all of them. I won't pretend to be some psychology major, nor even have a firm grasp on all of its branches. I just started to think about how it plays a part in music, and came up with a bunch of songs that I wanted to share. Each song is painstakingly written to tell a story for the intended audience.
These songs hold a sacred place in my heart, even though I sometimes skip over them when my iPod is set to 'shuffle'. It's not because I don't like them anymore, quite the contrary; I haven't deleted them because I can't bear to let them go. It's just sometimes I'm not in the right mood to hear a particular song, which brings me right back to Psychology and Music. Yes, I know musically I'm all over the place, but that's what makes my iPod so fantastic.
Enjoy!

There has been a great amount of discussion on the recent decision by John Mayer to stop using Twitter and turn his attention to more cohesive means of communication, namely Tumblr. I understood his eloquent explanation to say that, in part, devoid of the luxury of the full…

one forty plus.: Twitter Isn't "Over", I'm Over... →
Last week in Los Angeles I participated in a live Q&A as part of an ASCAP expo on songwriting. When the topic of Twitter came up, I explained my waning interest in it being part of my daily life. By no means do I think it’s over as a medium altogether, but I do think that the days of “Twitter: The…
